Aunt Dorothy was indirectly one of my most potent musical influences. Though she was a musician who taught guitar, steel guitar and accordion, she never gave me a single lesson.. But when she and Mom wanted to sit in the kitchen and gossip, she'd plug in her Gibson lap steel (pictured below) for me. I'd run to the den, make some noise and be out of their hair. And that's what initiated my interest in the steel guitar and enhanced my musical career greatly.
