Mosaic was playing at the Holiday Inn Sabal Park in 1990, and we knew Lee Greenwood was staying at the hotel after playing at the neaby Florida Fairgrounds. The front wall of the lounge was glass, so we could see out into the lobby. And we had a plan...if we saw Lee get off the elevator, we would drop everything and go into one of his tunes and try to lure him into the lounge. Well, we saw him and it worked! All of a sudden, Lee Greenwood was onstage with us singing 'Don't Underestimate My Love For You'. He sang several more songs with us to finish the set, and then was on his way. It was a great time, and several weeks later he called Steve and asked him if he wanted to play keyboards in his band. Of course he said yes! Then, in early 1991, Steve called me and said one of Lee's guitarists was leaving and asked me if I wanted to audition for the gig. I woodshedded ten hours a day for the next week learning the show, flew to Nashville and got the gig! I played with Lee in 1992-1993, playing acoustic, electric and pedal steel guitars and as a primary backing vocalist.
